stuff to ponder

dear tom waits:

i realize that i have been neglecting our correspondence. don't feel bad though; i'm neglecting lots of things these days, and most of them are things that i want or like to do. it doesn't mean it's not tru luv, tom.

what i wanted to tell you all about was the trip to the zoo last weekend, when i made the old male lion with the tip missing from his tail, the lion who was rescued from someone's house when he was a young-man lion (see: people are assholes), when he and i were roaring back and forth at each other. it was cold and drizzly, and i would growl "i love you" at him, and he would growl and roar back at me. then he went behind some rocks to get a drink or something. most of the big cats at the zoo near where i live are rescues, tom. isn't that nice? i rescue little cats and they rescue big cats. i wonder if any of theirs are as strange as trout.

there was almost no one at the zoo last weekend. i got lots of chances to talk to the animals about stuff. it was good for me. you should try it.

love, might
