One thing I have real problems wrapping my brain around is the fact that people use their microwaves for cooking things. Not convenience food, either. Real dishes that require preparation, like potatoes au gratin, or macaroni and cheese. The closest my microwave gets to real cooking is sometimes I cook bacon in it when I'm feeling really lazy. Or I'll nuke a potato to get it started so it doesn't take an hour to bake in the oven. Other than that, it's all reheating and popcorn. Am I strange? I'm just always surprised when I'm looking online for a recipe and I get "slice and chop and mix and whatnot and then microwave at 60% for 10-12 minutes." I just forget that you can DO that, I guess. These are the things that occupy my brain for stretches of entire minutes at a time. love, might |
